Manufacturing

Gekås is constantly working to improve social and environmental standards. Among other things, we work on requirements for ethical production, quality requirements, packaging and labeling. We also carry out regular spot checks and factory visits to ensure that all requirements are met.

Manufacturing

Gekås Ullared does not have its own production of goods. Everything we sell in the department store is sourced and purchased via suppliers and agents. Most products and goods are purchased through Swedish agents who handle product development, production and transportation. Our largest manufacturing countries are China, India and Bangladesh.

Product safety

Our product range includes almost 100 000 different products. To enable us to manage the volume of products from suppliers, we have created an Instruction for Suppliers (IFL). The IFL is a comprehensive document with instructions on everything from payment and invoicing information, code of conduct, product-specific instructions and packaging instructions for delivery.

Product quality

The quality of our products is very important to us. Selling good products at a good price is part of our basic principles. To ensure the quality of our products, we work with self-testing and control of external tests and certificates. We ensure compliance with all product requirements, including CE marking.

Chemicals

When a product contains chemicals, we always request safety data sheets and we have a clear stance on different substances in our products. All suppliers must comply with REACH and other relevant legislation, including RoHS and the Toys Directive.

Human rights

Gekås has its own Code of Conduct based on the ILO and the UN Global Convention on Human Rights. All suppliers receive the code of conduct in their IFL. To ensure compliance with our code of conduct, we and third-party companies make regular factory visits.

The different parts of the Gekås Code of Conduct:

  • Child labor is prohibited
  • Freedom of association and collective bargaining
  • Health and safety at work
  • Fair compensation
  • Freely chosen employment
  • No precarious employment
  • Decent working hours
  • Discrimination is prohibited
  • Harsh and inhumane treatment is prohibited
  • Ethical business practices
  • Environmental protection

Eco-labeling

Gekås offers a whole range of eco-labeled products, including KRAV, EU Flower and GOTS, where products are labeled by third-party companies.
