SOS Children’s Villages

SOS Children’s Villages is the world’s largest children’s rights organization for children who have lost parental care or are at risk of doing so. Gekås Ullared is the main partner of SOS Children’s Villages and currently supports activities in Bangladesh and Ukraine.

The work of SOS Children’s Villages

Today, more than 220 million children in the world live in extremely vulnerable conditions because they lack, or are at risk of losing, basic parental care. That is one in ten children. These children are too often forgotten by authorities and become invisible to the adult world. Many are at high risk of abuse, exploitation as child soldiers or forced into prostitution and trafficking.

SOS Children’s Villages creates a world for children by strengthening families at risk of breaking up, reuniting those who have been separated or, if the worst has happened, ensuring that children can grow up together with others. Through thousands of interventions in 130 countries, long-term change is created for children, families and entire communities.

Local actors

SOS Children’s Villages collaborates with local actors to provide long-term support for children and families in vulnerable situations, and to influence decision-makers to focus on the best interests of children. By strengthening families at risk of breaking up, reuniting those who have been separated or, if the worst has happened, ensuring that children can grow up together with others.
